Economic Development and Value Chains
We assess local and regional potentials to increase employment and income. We work with producers and their organisations, processors and retailers, public administrations, and consulting services. Together we identify missing functions, inefficiencies and management problems in product-specific value chains and develop solutions.
A few projects we have successfully supported:
- For a planned GIZ programme aiming to strengthening local and regional economic development we carried out a feasibility study in two regions of Mongolia. This involved the participatory assessment of competitive advantages and business environments, of promising products, and of the political and institutional framework for successful project implementation.
- We supported the GIZ More Income and Employment in Rural Areas (MIERA) project in Malawi through expert consulting and training on results-orientation in the promotion of agricultural value chains
- We provided expert advice to the evaluation of agricultural value chains by the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval).
- We provide expert consultancy to the BMZ-funded research project on requirements for food value chain promotion under ONEWORLD No Hunger (EWOH) to deliver on sustainable agri-food systems in partner countries.
